Jaguar passes, says concept "is just not for us"


Design houses do concepts "on spec" hoping to procure business from automakers and Bertone's stunning B99 was just that sort of speculation. Most hailed the design as beautiful and noted that the B99 looked like past Jags, but with a modern touch. According to a report in AutoWeek, Adrian Hallmark, Jaguar's global brand director, said last week at the Geneva show. "It is not our concept. We appreciate the fact that Jaguar is interesting enough for people to do a concept around. It's not that we are offended by it, or against it--it is just not for us." Since the new small Jag is two or three years away, much of the car's design and engineering may be complete. Let's hope that some of the B99's design cues show up on future Jags or maybe some other carmaker (how about a small Fisker) might...
