Official 2014 Jeep Cherokee pics released

Well it's official...the Cherokee is back. It has been rumored for sometime that the Cherokee name would return to Jeep dealers and here it is sports fans, the 2014 Jeep Cherokee. It has also been said that the new Cherokee would replace the Liberty in Jeep's line-up, but no word on the name change or specifications have been released. Expect all the deets after the car's official debut at the New York Auto Show next month. Till then, enjoy these pics. I like the look, but some have liken the car to the Nissan Juke (which I also like) and not in a positive way. The new Cherokee strikes me as a sleek and modern interpretation of the classic Jeep look. No tail pics were released probably due to possible last minute changes. A leaked interior pic (on another site) shows a modern dash with a selectable all-wheel-drive knob on the console, so expect the new Cherokee to at least maintain Jeep's soft-road prowess (yes soft-road..this ain't no Wrangler).. Can't wait to see it in the metal.

All-new KIA Forte 5-Door debuts in Chicago

Coming soon (Fall 2013) to a KIA dealer near you is this good-looking five-door addition to the Forte line up of compacts. KIA's new Forte Five-Door hatchback will come to us in two flavors, EX and SX, with the SX trim level featuring KIA's 1.6-liter turbo four that provides 201 horsepower and 195-lb.-ft. of torque mated to either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. The EX model gets the 2.0-liter four with 173 horsepower and 154 lb.-ft. of torque mated to a 6-speed automatic. The base EX comes standard with 16-inch alloy wheels, UVO eServices with rear camera display, Bluetooth wireless technology, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, leather-wrapped steering wheel with integrated audio and cruise control buttons, tilt and telescoping steering column, power windows, LED positioning headlights with fog lights, and more. Stepping up to the SX model adds the turbo engine, 18-inch alloy wheels, dual chrome exhaust tips, and LED tail lights, black gloss grille inserts, larger front brakes, alloy sport pedals, and carbon fiber-style accents. In keeping with the competition, the new KIA Five-Door model is slightly more upscale and sporty compared to its regular four-door sedan brethren. Chevy takes on VW with new 2014 Cruze Diesel

Well, we knew it was coming and it is finally here, the 2014 Chevrolet Cruze TD clean diesel sedan. Chevy is taking on VW's popular Jetta diesels with the new (to the US) 2.0-liter clean turbo-diesel that creates 148 horses and a whopping 259 lb.-ft. of torque. Power gets to the pavement though a six-speed automatic and delivers a best-in-segment driving range and an EPA-estimated 42 mpg on the highway (the Cruze Eco requires a manual transmission to receive the same highway mileage number). The Cruze TD provides spirited performance that will beat a similarly-equipped Jetta in the stoplight Grand Prix. Your $25,695 (includes destination, but not taxes, license, fees, or options) gets you a well-equipped, (leather, spoiler, Aero Package, 2-year maintenance plan, MyLink, and more) attractive sedan that allows you to reduce your carbon footprint. While diesel fuel can be more expensive than regular gas, many diesel vehicles have met or exceeded their EPA mileage numbers which can lead to an overall lower cost of ownership. Diesels have a history of longevity as well (GM guarantees this engine for 5yrs/100,000 miles). If fuel economy is your thang, Chevy has a new vehicle to add to your list. 2014 BMW 3-Series Gran Turismo debuts - Update

Some call BMW's Gran Turismo (GT) models the answer to a question no one asked. But to be fair, what's wrong with a vehicle that takes the best ideas from several model types and rolls them into one car? Nothing really but due to the fact that it sez BMW on the hood and flanks, expectations can be higher and critical eyes tend to be well, more critical. Call it a fast hatchagon, you know a fastback station wagon with a hatch lid. Admittedly the 5-Series GT is nowhere near as svelte or attractive as the regular sedan, but the new 3-Series GT's looks are less compromised than its larger sibling. The 3-Series GT will come in standard livery and with the Sport Line, Luxury Line, or Modern Line equipment packages. The optional M Sport package will be available later in the production run. While the new 3 GT isn't guaranteed for the US market, I see no reason that we would be deprived of this latest 3-Series body style. Engine choices should mirror the regular sedan with the 2.0-liter turbo four (240 hp) and the venerated 3.0-liter turbo six (300 hp) mated to an eight-speed automatic. This would also be a good vehicle to showcase one of BMW's new clean diesels. The 3 GT isn't for everyone, but if you need more rear headroom and better space utilization at a low(er) price of entry, this could be your Bimmer. Press release, additional pics and video after the jump. More to come...Update: the 3 GT is confirmed for the US market as a a 328i (four-cylinder) or 335i (six-cylinder). The 3 GTs will be arriving this Summer and sold as 2014 models. The extensive US press release has been added and is in italics for differentiation.

2013 Mopar Dart for Chicago show

Chrysler has been re-branding its Mopar performance offerings of late (by dropping other division names) and we seem to be in the midst of said branding as the official title of this vehicle is the Mopar '13 Dodge Dart. Dodge's small car is a looker in its own right, but the Mopar package is icing on the cake. This is the fourth special edition Mopar  after the Mopar ’10 Challenger, Mopar ’11 Charger and the Mopar ’12 300. Take a sinister black Dart, add Mopar blue accents, and numerous parts from the Mopar catalog (not to mention most of the good stuff from the Dart catalog) and you've got the Mopar Dart. I especially like the interior with the Mopar Blue leather driver's seat further enhancing the this-is-a-driver's-car image. Performance upgrades include a lowered sport suspension, revised steering calibration, sport-tuned exhaust, ground-effects kit, a premium brake kit with slotted rotors, and more. Also included are 18-inch wheels, a 1.4-liter MultiAir® intercooled turbo engine with a manual transmission, and a wireless smartphone charger. Only 500 examples of the Mopar Dart will be produced, so contact your dealer (if they are Mopar approved) to reserve your Dart special edition ASAP. BTW: am I the only one that looks at the advertising and think it says Dodge Dart II (or two)? More after the jump...
