Quick Look: All-new 2015 Chrysler 200 - w/videos

Chrysler's new 2015 200 sedan is a looker and not just because it looks like the progeny after a Fusion and Dart mated. The 200 is deceptively mid-size large, unlike its predecessor. I've held off writing about the 200 'til I saw a few on the road and I haven't seen any so far. I went down to my local dealer to catch one out in the elements. They had about three on the lot, but then this is one of those dealers that pushes trucks, so... The new 200 is a nice car. It comes in four flavors, Chrysler 200 LX, 200 Limited, a 200 S and the premium Chrysler 200 C (which is what I saw). The specs and features are class competitive with the optional Pentastar V6 (295 hp and 262 lb.-ft. of torque) or the standard 2.4-liter MultiAir Tigershark I-4 engine (184 hp and 173 lb.-ft. of torque) providing the motive force through a nine-speed automatic (with rotary selector). All-wheel drive is an available option. No diesels or hybrids  (yet?) thank you very much. Standard equipment and options abound so check out the press release for more info, as well as the brief videos. The all-new 2015 Chrysler 200 has a starting MSRP of $21,700 (+ taxes, license, fees, options, and $995 destination)  We should be seeing a lot of these out and about, cuz it really is a nice piece.

All-new BMW X6 introduced - w/video

Lots of folks don't understand the X6. The X6 is really a styling statement that says, "I want an SUV/crossover/SAV but I would like a "coupe-like" roofline to go with it for some visual excitement and no, I don't mind losing some cargo room." Voila, the X6 in a nutshell. So kinda sorta technically the X6 is an X5 with (more) style. The X6 comes with...

All-new BMW M4 Convertible drops top - w/videos

When the M4 Coupe broke cover, you new that it was a matter of time until the M4 Convertible made the scene and here it is in all its glory. The M4 uses strong, lightweight materials wherever possible like the aluminum hood and front panels and carbon-fiber pieces throughout. The steel folding roof can fold in just 20 seconds at up to 11 mph. All the goodies are on hand befitting any premium Bimmer from the M Division with numerous options and individualization choices (colors and materials) available to put an even bigger dent in your bank account (no prices yet). Buick unveils Envision mid-size crossover in China

One of the things you must remember about GM's Buick Division is that it sells more vehicles in China than it does anywhere else in the world (including the US). It makes sense that Shanghai GM would debut the new Buick Envision in it's largest market. The good folks at GM say that the Envision might come to the US, but they would be incredibly stupid if they didn't bring it here. This is one of Buick's better recent designs and the interior is a knockout (click on the pic right). The Envision uses GM's 2.0-liter turbo four with a six-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. The Envision is seen as a mid-size ute fitting in the Buick line-up between the Enclave and the Encore. The Envision is fitted with all of the GM goodies (see release) and slathered with premium materials for the China market. The Envision will come in four flavors with China-centric names like the AWD Elite, AWD Luxury, AWD Versatile Flagship and AWD Versatile Sporty Flagship. Buick should get this car here soon. Many thought that Buick made a critical error when they imported the small Encore, but dealers have trouble keeping them in stock and the Envision would probably fly out the doors as well, price permitting.

Classic Motor Cars unveils Jaguar Mark 2 by Callum restomod - w/video

When you are the design head of Jaguar, I guess you can drive the Jag of your choice and Ian Callum found the one he wanted. Although it wasn't fresh off the assembly line...sort of. As a fan of the Jaguar marque, Callum chose a Jaguar Mark 2 saloon and took it to Classic Motor Cars in the UK to have some restomod work done to the classic sedan. The results are quite stunning. Callum designed the bumpers to fit into the overall shape as opposed to the chrome add-ons that adorned the car previously. He added front fender air vents, flared wheel arches and more to make the Mark 2 look more modern, but still retain the classic shape. The interior was upgraded with modern materials and a state-of-the-art infotainment system. The chassis and underpinnings were completely redone with a new suspension (including an independent rear suspension), 17-inch split rim spoke wheels, upgraded braking, and a modified and uprated 4.3 litre XK engine mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. And let's not forget the beautiful paint work. This is one of those cars that you wish you
had in your driveway. I imagine that if you've got the bucks, CMC will build you one (as long as Callum gives the okay to use his design). If you check out CMC's site, they do work on regular Mark 2 Jags if that's more your cup of tea. I like Callum's Jag personally... Release, pics, and video after the jump.

Well Ford Raptor, there's a new kid coming and it's from Toyota. There's actually a whole family of new TRD ProSeries vehicles, but we will focus on the big 'un, the new Tundra TRD Pro. Land Rover intros the fastest Landie ever: the Range Rover Sport SVR - w/video

Land Rover makes some of the best off-road and sport utility vehicles on the planet, with Range Rover models taking on the luxury role. Now the Range Rover Sport, in SVR trim, takes on the high-performance SUV segment with a spectacular-looking ute that features a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 (550 hp, 500 lb.ft. of torque), an eight-speed performance automatic, sport suspension, 21-inch wheels (22-inchers optional), and a 0 to 60 time of just 4.5 seconds. The interior gets the pseudo-racer treatment with sports seats, special Windsor leathers, turned aluminum or (optional) carbon-fiber accents, power everything, premium audio and infotainment, and much more. The exterior features black accents everywhere including a black roof (may be ordered in body color) and blackened headlights back to the roof spoiler. When the Range Rover Sport SVR arrives in the US, it won't be inexpensive but that's to be expected of the high-per best of the best, right? More info will be made available closer to the new model's intro date. Enjoy. The press release provides lots of info and there are many pics (7) and a video after the jump. We may not need an SUV with this level of performance and luxury, but it sure is nice that it is there for aspirational purposes.

Honda CR-Z gets the go to match the show with supercharger option - w/video

Honda has released a dealer-installed supercharger kit that will finally deliver some performance to match the CR-Z's looks. Enthusiasts wanted to embrace the CR-Z, but the anemic 130 hp hybrid powertrain put off many potential buyers. What Honda needed was a performance upgrade for the CR-Z and it is here, sort of. Honda's HPD (Honda Performance Development) group has developed a long list of performance upgrades for the CR-Z including a supercharger kit that ups engine output to 197 hp. The super kit is available for 2013-14 CR-Zs equipped with manual transmissions and your warranty is not affected since the kit is dealer installed. HPD performance bits include the high-efficiency centrifugal supercharger; HPD air-to-air intercooler; high-flow fuel injectors; an ECU calibrated to meet CARB AT-PZEV regulations with 91 octane fuel; HPD air filter system; and an HPD sport exhaust (approx. $5,500+). Special wheels, a hi-per clutch, and a limited-slip diff are also on the offing. Now comes the big question...why doesn't Honda offer this as a special model from the factory? The quick uninformed answer (read guess) is probably emissions regulations and fuel economy standards. Also, Honda can charge more for the separate kits than it probably could for a complete model. It's a shame cuz I bet lots of folks would be interested in a complete model from the factory as opposed to a piece-meal, dealer-installed set-up. The big shame is that the CR-Z just might get canceled if things don't pick up. Honda, you have no one to blame but yourselves. The CR-Z offered baby sheep performance wrapped in a wolf suit. Couldn't you have offered the performance that the car's design promised along with an energy-efficient option? Time will tell...

Chevrolet announces new Silverado Rally Edition pick-up for 2015

I really couldn't tell you if this is Chevy's production response to the Ford F-150 Tremor since the look is similar, but the execution is very different. The Chevy Cheyenne Concept, shown at SEMA, is more like the Tremor than the truck you see here, the 2015 Silverado Rally Edition which will come in Rally 1 (while truck) and Rally 2 (red truck) iterations. The Rally 1 Silverado (see the white truck after the jump) gets a body-colored grille with black bowtie logo, black door handles, mirror caps, and two black rally stripes. The Rally 2 version gets all that plus 22-inch black alloy wheels and black tubular side steps. Both packages also include the trailering package with a hitch and automatic locking rear differential, 10-way power driver seat, dual-zone climate control, remote start, backup camera, rear defroster, and the eight-inch Chevy MyLink radio that includes a built-in Wi-Fi hotspot with 4G LTE connectivity. The Rally Editions come standard with the 4.3-Liter EcoTec3 V-6 (285-horsepower and 305 lb-ft of torque) and a six-speed automatic, while the 5.3L Ecotec V-8 (355 hp) is optional. Basically this is an appearance group that gives the '15 Silverado pick-up a dash of style, especially in Rally 2 guise. The Silverado Rally Editions will come in the Double-Cab (available September) and Crew Cab (available October) body configurations. If this is what you've been waiting for, get to your Chevy dealer today for availability and pricing info.

Jaguar Heritage to build six new Lightweight E-Types - w/video

The Jaguar E-Type is one of the most beautiful cars ever made and Jaguar sold more than 70,000 of them between 1961 and 1975. In 1963, Jaguar developed the Lightweight E-Type for racing purposes with a total of 18 cars in the run. However, only 12 of the racers were built, so Jaguar Heritage will build the remaining six cars. The prototype (shown in pics) was built by Jaguar land Rover's Special Operations group. Using the original plans and utilizing similar materials, the six new 1963(?) Jaguar Lightweight E-Types will be sold as period competition vehicles and all will be suitable for FIA homologation for historic motorsport purposes. If you have to ask for pricing, don't bother. This is a truly amazing endeavor and shows the talents and abilities of the Heritage division (they will rebuild and restore your Jaguar...for a price). The pics are clickable, there is a video, and the extensive press release includes info and specs regarding the new build(s). Enjoy! Really lovely car, isn't it?

Saleen tweaks the Tesla Model S EV

Saleen unveiled its latest hi-per creation at the 2014 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, the FourSixteen, which is a (lightly?) modified Tesla Model S EV sedan. The aerodynamic modifications are noticeable upon first glance with the revised front clip that does away with the Tesla grille (my least favorite aspect of the Model S) and adds "vents" to add drama and style. Add on some very large, but lightweight wheels, and a rear spoiler and carbon-fiber diffuser. Inside, the SixFourteen gets new interior leathers (with Alcantara inserts) and a revised console that includes additional storage and a (gasp) cupholder. The revisions are very smart and good-looking and improve the look of the Model S. The running bits were breathed upon to further improve an already stunning automobile. For more specific information regarding changes, check out the press release after the jump. This updated Model S sedan, the Saleen FourSixteen, will set you back $152,000 (+ taxes, license, fees, options) for the complete vehicle before any government rebates (check in your area). I wonder how much the Lipstick Red paint will cost you, since Tesla doesn't offer any reds at the present time.

Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupé Waterspeed Collection Makes US debut - w/video

Raise you hand if you like the color blue. Keep 'em up if you like your blue an almost watery blue-aqua. Well, Rolls-Royce has a car for you. The new Phantom Drophead Coupe Waterspeed collection made its US debut at the Concours D’Elégance at Pebble Beach. The Waterspeed Drophead (read convertible) was developed to celebrate Sir Malcolm Campbell’s act of setting a new world water-speed record in 1937, not to mention showing off Rolls' Bespoke Department (custom) services. The car (aka land yacht) features a special Maggiore Blue color with a Windchill Grey leather interior with Abachi wood, and brushed steel accents (although the "standard" car's teak accents seem more in lane with the overall concept). With this new version, you get all of the Rolls-Royce goodies with the Waterspeed touch added to just 35 examples of the large convertible that will take four folks anywhere in luxury and speed. If you want one, take your six figures to your dealer now, cuz they may already be spoken for. This is a lovely car made lovelier, although I do question some of the interior choices. For more info, check out the Pebble Beach release, press kit release, pics, and video after the jump.

Caterham to bring two new sportscars to the US - w/video

Caterham has been selling the Seven series of sports cars for many decades to happy European and (mostly) UK customers. This back-to-basics sports car was originally designed by Lotus. The Seven takes the sports car chassis and mates it to a barely-there body with a readily-available engine to provide motorists with outstanding performance, good economy, reliability, and broad smiles. And Caterham is bringing two new roadsters to the US, the Seven 360 and 480. The cars feature Ford 2.0-liter engines that provide 180 HP (Seven 360) or 237 hp (Seven 480). The Seven 360 will hit 60 mph in under five seconds, while the 480 takes just under 3.5 seconds to hit the same velocity. Quick indeed... the cars also handle as if on rails (see UK autoshow video after the jump). Since January 2014, the Caterham Cars range has officially been on sale in the USA through its distributor, Superformance (www.superformance.com). Sevens are shipped to the USA in part-built form and sold as rolling chassis via Superformance’s nationwide dealer network. The Seven 360 and 480 were developed especially for the US market (I have included a release for the UK Roadsport 175 which seems closest to US spec cars) and they will set you back $44,900 for the Seven 360 and $52,900 for the 480. Not a lot of bucks for wind-in-your-hair and bugs-in-your-teeth sports car motoring. Visit their website (at the link below) to find a dealer close to you. Enjoy!

Dodge injects speed and power into new 2015 Charger Hellcat SRT

When the Challenger Hellcat made its debut, you knew (hoped?) a Charger version would be right around the corner and here it is...the new 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat. What can you say about a stunning four-door sedan with 707 hp under the hood? How about an 11 second quarter mile and a top speed of 204 miles per hour. This new "most powerful sedan in the world" Charger gets all the good stuff in the Chrysler parts bin like Uconnect infotainment, premium interior finishes, an 18-speaker Harmon Kardon audio system, 20-inch "slingshot"alloy wheels with Pirelli P-Zero tires, heavy-duty eight-speed automatic, Brembo brakes, and oh yeah, the supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI® Hellcat V-8 engine that produces 707 horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. of torque. To say that this is the top Charger may be open to debate (purists still only accept two-doors as "real" Chargers), but this will be one sedan that will get you to your destination with speed and style. Prices haven't been announced, but don't expect this "best-of-everything" Charger to come cheaply. A healthy wallet will be necessary for the price of entry, not to mention to cover the costs of insurance, gas, and speeding tickets. Can't wait to see this one in the flesh. More to come. Pics are clickable, BTW, for a closer look. Fairly extensive press release after the jump.
