Porsche unveils "ultra" Panamera Turbo S Exclusive Series limited edition - w/video

If you're one of the lucky 100, you'll get your hands on one of these, the Porsche Panamera Turbo S Exclusive Series. The Panamera Turbo S ES is a unique vehicle that is "put together" at Porsche's Exclusive factory. The car features two-tone paint (a first for Porsche) that consists of a mostly Jet Black Metallic car with Chestnut Brown Metallic paint that starts at the front fender vent and fades toward the rear of the car. The 20-inch Sport Classic wheels are painted Jet Black Metallic exclusively for this model. The wheelbase has been stretched for more interior space. The interior is covered in fine chestnut brown leathers from Poltrona Frau® as well as Black Napa leathers and there is a made-to-measure luggage set featuring the same chestnut hides. Interior accents run from warm walnut wood transitioning to piano black. Porsche's newly developed Rear Seat Entertainment System Plus is standard and features two high-resolution 10.1-inch touchscreens in the back seat with a built-in camera, an integrated DVD player, mobile internet access, and the sound can be played through wireless headphones or the Burmester® high-end surround sound system. Each car receives a numbered plaque showing its individual limited edition number. And let's not forget that this is a Turbo S Executive Panamera with 570hp and all-wheel drive, Porsche is taking reservations now with prices starting at $263,900 plus taxes, license, fees, options (don't forget the luggage) and $995 destination. If you've got the bucks and can get there before they're gone, you'll get a spectacular conveyance for you and a few good friends. Press release, pics, and video after the jump.

Audi unleashes powerful new R8 competition limited-edition supercar

Audi's R8 is one of those cars that is on an enthusiast's list titled "When I win the Lottery." The R8 is a stunning supercar that shares a platform with sibling Lamborghini (yes, Audi owns Lambo). The R8 is notable in that it added a level of polish and refinement that has become a standard in today's high-performance exotics to go along with the requisite performance. The "regular" (doesn't seem fair to call an R8 regular) R8 is available with either a V8 or V10, but the car pictured here, the limited-edition R8 competition (yes, lower case c), features the 5.2-liter V10 that has been massaged to put out 570 hp. Mated to a seven-speed Stronic transmission, the V10 pushes the R8 competition to sixty in just 3.2 seconds with a top speed of 199 mph. Special matte carbon-fiber elements include the fixed rear spoiler, mirror housings, side blades, front spoiler, rear diffuser, and more to accentuate the exterior. Special gloss black wheels show off the ceramic brakes with red calipers. The R8 competition is an Audi exclusive-line vehicle which means that prospective owners can choose from a variety of interior and exterior colors to have their supercar reflect their tastes and needs. Audi will begin taking orders for the R8 competition shortly after the car's introduction at the LA Auto Show in November. If you want one, you better hurry as Audi is only building 60 R8 competitions. Pricing? Six figures for sure, but as "they" say, "if you have to ask..."

Ram brings trucks and vans to SEMA 2014 - w/videos - Update

The annual SEMA show is a celebration of what's possible and no one brings the automotive what's possible like FCA's (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) MOPAR division. MOPAR's concepts are special for many reasons since most (or all) of the equipment highlighted is available through your local MOPAR outlet or dealer. In fact, the MOPAR Custom Shop allows purchaser personalization of new vehicles with parts installation before delivery...by a MOPAR pro. The vehicles shown here, the Ram 2500 Outdoorsman (above) and the ProMaster Hospitality Van Concept, are two idea-filled vehicles that let you see what's possible. The Ram 2500 Outdoorsman is a go-anywhere, heavy-duty Ram truck with inspiration from outdoors outfitter Mossy Oak®. The Outdoorsman features special paint with satin black accents and the Mossy Oak Bottomland camouflage design that is applied to the hood, roof, and along the length of the lower body. Three utility hoops (used on past SEMA show vehicles as ladder or surfboard racks) are reinvented as a camouflaged bed tent. Other Mopar equipment includes the Mopar roof rack and the concept “Flip-Up” seatback tailgate, which converts into a two-seat bench by folding back toward the cab. MOPAR performance bits include Mopar concept 17-inch, eight-lug bead lock wheels with 35-by-12.50-inch R17 Mud-Terrain T/A KM2 BFGoodrich tires; a Mopar leveling kit; Bilstein shocks; and MOPAR fender flares front and rear. This is a nice package.

Then there's the Ram ProMaster Hospitality Van that shows a possible "office on wheels." This Hospitality Concept gives business owners ideas for fleet upgrades that include special refrigeration for cold drinks that can be served from the a large swing-open side panel. To focus further on the van’s multipurpose utility, interior cabinets, counter displays, and merchandise displays are installed in the cargo area of the vehicle taking advantage of the vertically oriented side walls that are the envy of the cargo van category. The exterior features satin black lower body accents, MOPAR blue paint, and MOPAR graphics. The wheels are nice too. If you see something that "lights your fire"and fits your needs, check with your local dealer about parts availability and the MOPAR Custom Shop. For more info, check out the press release (first one edited for these vehicles) and two SEMA MOPAR videos.

Galpin Auto Sports brings Golden Anniversary Mustang Concept to SEMA

Galpin is Ford's largest dealership and their tuning arm, Galpin Auto Sports (or GAS, as seen on TV in "Pimp My Ride"), has created a special Mustang to celebrate the model's fiftieth anniversary. The GAS SEMA Mustang features a special black and gold treatment and performance upgrades. “We like the black and gold idea, and really wanted to get the color as close to 24-carat gold as possible,” said Brandon Boeckmann, GAS operations manager. The 20-inch wheels, side sills, brake calipers and badging are all finished in gold, while on the inside, everything that is normally chrome or metallic, has either been blacked-out or given the Midas touch. The Recaro sport seats are covered in a black and gold fabric and the headliner is black microsuede. The exterior is finished in a special paint that may appear black, but is actually filled with gold metallic flecks. The performance upgrades include a special gold powder-coated Whipple supercharger (that is visible under the hood "window"), STEEDA suspension bits, and a new Magnaflow exhaust. Engine output has jumped to 725 horsepower. The front fascia gets special LED lighting that includes sequential front turn signals similar to the standard Mustang rear units. If you're going to SEMA, the GAS Mustang will be in the large Ford booth/area. For more info, check out the brief press release after the jump. Additional pics will be added as they become available. If this looks like your 'Stang thang, contact GAS and have them build one for you.

Chrysler 200S MOPAR gets mean for SEMA 2014 - w/videos

As mentioned previously, the annual SEMA show allows carmakers and specialty equipment manufacturers to "strut their stuff" and the 2014 show is shaping up to be more than you can handle in one sitting. I think it's called overload. Anyway, FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) always brings their best to SEMA but their concepts are unique in that you can buy all or most of the stuff fitted to their regular production models. The car shown here is Chrysler's stunning 200 S model that has been updated with a body kit (front and rear spoilers, side sills, rear side sill extensions and rear valance), special MOPAR rear quad exhaust tips, a coil-over suspension lowering kit, Phantom Black Tri-coat paint, and new 19-inch wheels with a unique Mopar bronze finish. Bolt-on MOPAR performance parts are added as well including a MOPAR cold-air intake, cat-back exhaust, and a MOPAR big brake kit. A production version of this car is expected in early 2015 and the MOPAR parts will be available soon at the MOPAR Custom shop. If you order the parts when you order your vehicle, your car is built and delivered to the MOPAR shop for installation of the custom parts. You get your new customized vehicle ready to go. Cool, right? For more info, check out the press release (first one edited for this vehicle) and the two SEMA MOPAR videos after the jump. More pics will be added as they become available.

Jeep tales a bite out of the 2014 SEMA show with two Renegade concepts - w/videos - Update

The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) is an annual event that showcases aftermarket and production manufacturer parts and equipment that one can use to customize your ride. FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) and its MOPAR division are especially relevant SEMA participants since (almost?) all of the equipment shown at the show is available (or will be) through your local dealer or MOPAR distributor. The Jeep vehicles are always fun. Two of Jeep's '14 SEMA specials are the Renegade Frostbite and Riptide. Based on the all-new Jeep Renegade compact (that will be at your local dealer soon),  the Riptide (above) is Jeep's homage to the beach and surfing scene. The Riptide features special Vibrance Grandeur Blue paint with satin black accents and a MOPAR carrier rack complete with surfboard. The interior features blue dash and side panel trim with white accents throughout the interior along with front and rear seats and headrests dressed in black leather. To complete the interior dressing, the Riptide gets teak floor mats to reinforce the “surf’s-up” motif.

The Renegade Frostbite (left and below) is intended to be a skier or snowboarder's dream with white paint and blue accents (mirror caps, grille, wheels) with special "Katskin" pearl seats dressed in aqua blue (the aqua blue hue also fills the perimeter around the doors, as well as the outline of the gearshift and vents). The wheels kinda look like snowflakes, right? The Frostbite is topped off with a MOPAR ski/snowboard roof rack. Special graphics and logos complete the look(s). Jeep makes lots of special-edition cars, so maybe we will see one or both of these concepts in production form. I think the Riptide looks ready to go now and the Frostbite would benefit from the Riptide's satin black wheels. For more, check out the press release (first one edited for just these vehicles) and two MOPAR SEMA videos after the jump. Enjoy!

All-new Lexus NX compact premium crossover hits the streets for 2015 - w/videos

The first thing that hits you when you see the new 2015 Lexus NX, is the premium compact crossover's styling. You certainly can't call it bland. In fact, it may be a bit over-styled with its carved-from-a-block looks mixed with convex and concave surfacing that can get a bit muddled (look at the lines around the door mirrors in the side shots). You'll either love it or hate it, but many will buy it regardless cause it's a Lexus/Toyota. I must admit that the styling is growing on me and this is probably a car that looks better in certain colors. The NX comes in three flavors 200t, 300h (hybrid), and F Sport (features the spindle grille). The interior is very nice and is available in five trim levels in Base, Comfort, Premium, Luxury (creme/black two-tone in pic), and F Sport that offers a unique red two-tone treatment with metal accents. NX buyers will benefit from the large standard features list which includes a plethora of safety, infotainment, and performance items and an even longer options list to spec your NX to fit your needs, desires, and pocketbook. For example, All-Wheel Drive is available on all models and the 300h's AWD set-up is unique by providing the rear-drive portion via an electric motor. You could try to call the NX a tarted up RAV4, but the NX offers powertrains, performance, technology, luxury, and styling its Toyota sibling doesn't offer or match. The 2015 Lexus NX models will be at your dealer very soon with prices starting in the low $30k range and growing (possibly quite rapidly) from there. For more info, check out the informative press release, additional pics, and two videos after the jump.

Tesla Model S goes from fast to super fast with the addition of the D - w/video

Tesla's electric vehicles are pretty amazing on many levels and the Model S five-door sedan is a beautiful thing to behold (living in an LA suburb as I do, you see them everywhere...especially on the Westside). But the good folks at Tesla have taken the Model S to the next level with the D Series or Dual Motor cars. The Dual Motor cars have two electric motors (one in front, one in back) over the axles for improved power, traction, general performance, and handling. In fact, the Model S P85D (Performance version, 85 kWh battery, Dual Motor) will beat many supercars in a race to 60 mph (the McLaren F1 was the performance benchmark during development). The Model S Dual Motor cars will also benefit from the all-wheel drive nature of the vehicles in the wet and slippery stuff. The Dual Motor set-up does not diminish battery charge and in some cases even extends range (200+ mile range is a Tesla feature). The P85 Model Ss will be the first to get the Dual Motor treatment with the first deliveries expected in December. The 60 kWh and (non P) 85 kWh models will offer the "D" treatment after the first of the year and roll out to other markets after that. Tesla's new Autopilot software is being delivered at the same time. Autopilot has many helpful safety features like traffic-based navigation, commute advice, remote start, power management functions, and more. You can even name your car. Future updates to this software will accomplish amazing feats using the car's numerous sensors and cameras. For more info, check out the releases after the jump that give more specifics about the Dual Motor set-up and the new Software v6.0. There is also a video of the Dual Motor Model S intro. Enjoy this taste of the future that's here today!

Celebrating 60 years in America, Ferrari launches the F60America limited edition

As a throwback to the 50s and 60s, Ferrari is creating very limited edition, built-to-order cars such as the example you see here, the F60America. This new take on the F12 Berlinetta, the F60A uses Ferrari's racing livery as a starting point for this model that celebrates Ferrari's 60 years in the US. The asymmetrical red over black interior accentuates the driver's cockpit area and the F60A wears special 60th Anniversary "Prancing Horse" badges on the wheel arches and on the interior tunnel. Stylized American flags adorn the seats. Ferrari's fabled V12 (700+ hp) has reported for duty along with most of Ferrari's available equipment. In keeping with Ferrari's traditions, only ten F60Americas will be made and offered to current owners first...and you guessed it, they are all spoken for. I suppose if you just had to have one, you could create your own from the Ferrari catalog (close but no cigar), but your bank account should have low-to mid seven figures free for the purchase. Pretty though isn't it?

Quick Look: Bentley Continental GT Speed Convertible - w/video

By checking the Speed box on your Continetal GT Convertible order form, you get the "fastest four-seat convertible in the world," a 616 hp W12 engine mated to an eight-speed automatic, special 21-inch alloys, dark-tint trim, a 202-mph top speed, a lower self-leveling suspension, Bentley infotainment, premium audio, a hand-crafted interior at the Mulliner Driving Specification with its diamond-quilted leather upholstery and Dark Tint Aluminium ‘engine spin’ finish accents (various woods and carbon-fiber trim are optional), and pretty much anything and everything in the Bentley catalog. Porsche expands the 911 family with new GTS models - w/video

Ask a Porsche purist to name the greatest sports car and they will respond "911." Many purists have decried all non-911 Porsches except that those vehicles have in many ways kept the 911 alive and growing. And Porsche is growing the 911 family once again with the addition of  four new GTS models. The Porsche 911 Carrera GTS will be available as either a Coupe or Cabriolet with all-wheel drive as an option (which adds a 4 after Carrera in the title). The GTS fits in between the Carrera S and GT3 models in the 911 line-up. Checking the GTS box on the order form gets you a 911 with the Carrera 4 body with flared rear wheel arches and a wider track, 20-inch gloss black wheels, the 430 horsepower engine from the Carrera S Powerkit (0 - 60 in about 4 secs, 185+ mph top speed), Sport Chrono package, Sport Exhaust, PASM active damper system, Porsche Dynamic Light System, leather-trimmed sport seats with center panels made of made of Alcantara®, black exterior trim, and more make the 911 GTS a lean, mean driving machine.  Prices start at $114,200 for the 911 Carrera GTS Coupe and jump to $126,100 for the Cabriolet. Adding the 4 in the name for all-wheel drive (911 Carrera 4 GTS) will set you back an additional $6,700 for both body styles. Prices do not include destination ($995), license, taxes, fees, or options like the PDK dual-clutch automatic. The current 911 is a striking car and the GTS model "gilds the lily" without going the full "boy racer" styling direction. If you've got the will, desire, and the bucks, the 911 Carrera GTS models will be at your local Porsche dealer soon. Release, pics, and video after the jump.

Citroen/DS hints at the future with Divine DS concept - w/video

As of June 1, Citroen created the DS brand as a separate entity to field premium vehicles. At this year's Paris Motor Show, the French marque rolled out two new concepts (to go along with existing models) that according to company execs, preview what is to come from DS. The focus here is the Divine DS concept that is a unique look at one car for the future..today. "This concept car is the very essence of what DS is and what it will be. A perfect alliance between sophistication and technology. Unveiled just a few weeks after the birth of the brand, DIVINE DS perfectly expresses the unique personality of DS.” Yves Bonnefont, CEO, DS Brand. The intergalactic interior aside (one of three possible choices), the Divine DS is a handsome vehicle with sculpted flanks, clean lines, and interesting detailing. The Divine DS is a premium compact four-door (hatchback. sedan?) with infotainment from MyDS and elegant touches like Lesage embroidery and Swarovski crystal work. No information regarding potential motive force was given, but Citroen has various gas, diesel, and hybrid powerplants to choose from. The important news for US consumers is that DS execs reported that the automaker has global intentions meaning an introduction into the US market in the next few years. Interesting. I wonder if that rear window "shield" is see-through or if they use cameras for rear visibility? Probably the former... Two press releases, pics, and a video after the jump. Enjoy!

Rolls-Royce unveils Phantom Metropolitan Collection for the few - w/video

Chances are, if you haven't looked into acquiring your own Metropolitan Collection Phantom, you may be out of luck. Only 20 Metropolitan Collection Phantoms, that debuted in Paris, will be created giving new meaning to the phrase limited edition. The Rolls-Royce Phantom Metropolitan Collection sedan is an uber luxury conveyance with some unique touches like the inlaid wood veneers that mimic a cityscape and the unique gray-tone colors (although Rolls is quick to point out that you can choose from the more than 44,000 available colors if the color palate shown doesn't suit your tastes). “I can think of no more fitting location than Paris to debut this remarkable new motor car.” said Torsten Müller-Ötvös, Chief Executive Officer, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. “Our customers across the globe delight in challenging our designers and craftspeople to create true, one-of-a-kind pieces of automotive art. This latest Collection serves to showcase the extraordinary scope for Bespoke personalization afforded to every patron of the marque.” When you think of it, any Rolls-Royce is more or less a custom edition. These Metropolitan Collection cars are just more so. The Phantom Metro Collection isn't my thing, but it is an amazing piece of "automotive art." Just shows what can be done if money isn't a consideration, in other words if you have to ask the price... Oh and this is a Rolls so it has and does just about everything. Volkswagen TriStar Concept...a different kind of VW

This is one of those where does this fit vehicles..unless of course the vehicle in question is just perfect for your needs. The Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles group took a look at the current T Series (Transporter) and tried to predict the future direction of these vehicles. What they came up with is a concept that is part pick-up, part hauler, and part office. Looking like a tall extended cab truck, the TriStar has a shallow bed that covers a weather and dust proof shelf that resides below said bed. Hauling stuff...check. The interior features a 20-inch tablet table with state-of-the-art video conferencing and sound, leather-covered driver and passenger seats which turn and slide, an espresso machine, and well, what more do you need to run your empire and have small meetings? The screaming honey gold paint with dark off-road accents and "Rocadura" alloy wheels give the TriStar presence. This is not a small vehicle like the Transporter/Bus variations of the 50s and 60s. And this one could get you to that muddy job site with its 2.0-liter turbo diesel engine, seven-speed dual-clutch automatic, and permanent all-wheel drive with mechanical rear axle differential lock not to mention sufficient ground clearance. Could this one see production? Maybe. Could VW build it? Of course. Might it come to the US? I wouldn't hold my breath, but you never know... I like the looks and idea of the TriStar, you? More info and pics after the jump. (btw: They spelled TriStar with all caps, but I hate getting yelled at, so...)
