Scion shows limited edition '16 FR-S Release Series 2.0

The Scion FR-S is one of those cars that should sell like the proverbial hotcakes, but some say that the car is a bit small limiting access for larger-than-everybody-else Americans. Even Subaru's version, the BRZ, sells just okay (I think people are still waiting for Subie to drop the WRX Turbo engine into the sportster). Scion is well known for its (usually) annual limited-, special-editions of their products and this is the FR-S Release Series 2.0 for 2016. The FR-S RS 2.0 is a more luxurious FR-S with amenities like a black and camel leather and Alcantara interior, heated seats, Smart Key with push-button start, special aero kit and spoilers, special 17-inch alloy wheels, HID headlamps, and LED daytime running lights, not to mention the Lunar Storm paint. All this good stuff will set you back $29,510 for the manual transmission and $30,610 for the automatic (plus delivery, processing and handling fee of $795, license, fees, and options) which should get you a very nice sportster for less than if you built this car yourself from the options sheet..Scion will only build 1,000 of the FR-S Release Series 2.0 coupes so get to your local Scion retailer ASAP if this looks like the car for you...decent fuel efficiency, great handling, decent power, and great looks. Infiniti reveals Q30 active compact

What you see here is Infiniti's first entry into the premium compact car market, the Q30. Infiniti's "active compact" is an interesting mash-up of a compact hatchback and a compact crossover. The Q30 looks like a premium compact five-door but with a slightly elevated drive height, kinda like Mercedes' current GLA and that's not bad company to keep. The Q30 is an attractive vehicle that will come in Sport and Premium flavors but with a degree of individualization available. In markets outside the US, various gas and diesel engines are on tap (including a six-speed manual for Europe), but the US will see the high-spec 2.0-liter four (208 hp) matched to the seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic only. No CVTs here thank goodness. The Q30 should do quite well for Infiniti when it is rolled out in the next several weeks (in limited markets). For lots of info, check out the detailed press release and four videos after the jump.

Porsche unleashes Black Edition Cayman for 2016

Let's get this out of the way, the Porsche Cayman is one of (if not the) best-handling sports cars available on the planet today. It is also one of the best-looking sports cars that screams "Drive me!" while sitting still. Porsche makes special "Black Edition" versions of various models from time to time and this time it's the Cayman's turn. The Cayman Black Edition (BE) is a black-on-black iteration (Don't mind the yellow mirror in the GTS interior pic included for reference) of the popular sportster that comes well-equipped for special-edition duty with the 2.7 liter flat-six engine (275 hp), 20-inch Carrera Classic wheels, Bi-Xenon headlights with PDLS (Porsche Dynamic Light System), two-zone climate control, heated seats (for both driver and passenger), the Porsche Communication Management system with navigation, the upgraded Sound Package Plus and Park Assist for front and rear. Yup all that good stuff is standard as well as a Sport Design steering wheel, door sill guards with Black Edition logo, auto-dimming rear view mirrors, and headrests embossed with the Porsche crest. What's this gonna cost you, you ask? The Cayman Black Edition will reach showrooms in January, 2016 starting at $59,200 (not including a $995 destination charge, plus taxes, license, fees, and options). Options? Yes, Jet Black Metallic is available as are transmission and other upgrades. The Cayman Black Edition gets you a lot of Porsche sports car for under $60k (or so). Want one? Get thee to thy dealer ASAP.
