Euro VW Touareg SUV to get special Executive Edition

This is the Volkswagen Touareg Executive Edition special that has been created for the 2016/17 model year. "What does this represent?" you might ask. When vehicles are about to be redone (re-styled and/or re-engineered), automakers often offer special-editions of the outgoing model to maintain sales and to move metal. It just so happens that VW's Touareg is a fine crossover/SUV that probably deserves to be "kitted up." Don't forget that the Touareg shares a platform with the Porsche Cayenne and the Audi Q7 and Porsche has already announced its Cayenne specials, the Cayenne Platinum editions. Good company indeed. It's a shame that the Touareg doesn't sell better here in the US, but that probably comes down to premium pricing and the no-longer-available diesel option (they sold a lot of diesel Touaregs here and abroad). The really sad part is that we might not get the new Touareg in the US, since the Passat-based, seven-seat, US-built crossover is almost ready. The Executive Edition Touareg is basically an appearance group added to the top-of-the-line Executive trim level that offers (optionally available) Malbec Red paint (shown), standard black "Mallory" 20-inch alloy wheels (21s optional), tinted side and rear windows, smoked LED rear lights, black Nappa leather seats with a diamond-quilted pattern with stitching in the contrasting "Tobacco" color, seat ventilation, lots of wood trim, and special badges. Unfortunately, the Touareg Executive Edition is currently available in Europe only, but if you'd like one of your own, let Volkswagen know.

Volkswagen rolls out the latest Beetle special edition with a hashtag

Yup. it's pink. Well. Fresh Fuchsia Metallic to be exact. Behold the 2017 Volkswagen #PinkBeetle Special Edition...the first model to have a hashtag for/in it's name. The #PinkBeetle is based on a concept car from a couple of years ago. Special edition models can do several things besides draw attention to a model or nameplate. They can bundle features to allow for lower purchase costs and increased value. And they can be unique variations that an automaker can use to try out new equipment or features. The #PinkBeetle falls in that last category with it's unique color and trim. This is not your sister's "Barbie-mobile." Or is it? The FWD #PinkBeetle uses the 1.8-liter turbo four (170 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque) mated to a six-speed automatic. The #PinkBeetle can be had as either a Coupe or Convertible in the blushing hue with some gloss-black accents. Coupes are fitted with 17-inch multi-spoke Linas aluminum-alloy wheels, while #PinkBeetle Convertible models feature the 18-inch five-spoke Twister design. Inside the #PinkBeetle uses tartan upholstery (like the GTI) with pink highlightss in place of the GTI's red accents. VW's MIB II infotainemnt system is on hand with a 6.3-inch screen with a capacitive touch sensor (similar to smartphone and tablet technology) to enable gesture controls like swiping and pinch-zooming. The features list is fairly long, but prices should be competitive. The limited-edition 2017 #PinkBeetle will be at your local dealer later this year. At this time it is expected to be a US-only model. If this is your thing, let your local Volkswagen purveyor know. More info after the jump.
